The Boston Band Crush Interview:

BBC: What Boston rockers, past or present, would you most like to have a One Night Band with?

DWJ: Ben Crandall / Jet Crandall / Rich Lewis / JR Roach – aka Sam Black Church Pete Cortese / Mike DiAntonio / Jason Fitzgerald / Code / Brian Fair – aka Overcast Minehan / The Neighborhoods
Brookhouse – The Dirty Truckers / Jesse Mayer – The New Alibis, The Marvels, Shake The Faith

BBC: What Boston rockers, past or present, would you most fear having a One Night Band with?

DWJ: I have no fear of rocking with anyone.

BBC: What is your normal song or part writing process? Will writing three songs in a single day drastically differ from your usual approach to creating music?

DWJ: I’m really looking forward to this, to working with different people and possibly playing in a different style (i.e. not metal or hardcore punk). Typically I write three riffs – a verse, a chorus, and a bridge. Sometimes, I only have 2 riffs and then someone else in the band has something to go with it, i.e. the bridge riff.
Once I teach it to the dudes, they screw it up, aka arrange it. Then I write the lyrics. Usually I already have a subject that I want to talk about – a relationship, something political, etc… Then we play the shit out of it, make a demo, play it a lot live, and then record it for real.

BBC: What Boston band do you have the biggest crush on right now?

DWJ: Right this second I’m listening to the Neighborhoods. I’ve always liked Motheboar a lot. I’m stoked to hear the new Cave-In vinyl. Tired Old Bones is a new band that I dig.
