Check back each day for more interviews with our participants!

Magen is the keyboardist/back-up vocalist for local indie-rockers St. Helena. She also collaborates regularly with local girls-with-guitars Jordan Clements and Ashleigh Lamport, and has been a part of Christine Baze’s Yellow Umbrella Tour and Wonky Productions/Queeraoke’s early show series as a solo artist. Magen has worked in concert promotion in the Boston area for the past 8 years, with stints at Live Nation New England, the Paradise Rock Club, and Berklee College of Music.

BBC: What Boston rockers, past or present, would you most like to have a One Night Band with?
MT: Aimee Mann. Juliana Hatfield. Monique Ortiz. Kim Deal. (swoon)

BBC: What Boston rockers, past or present, would you most fear having a One Night Band with?
MT: Godsmack.

BBC: What is your normal song or part writing process? Will writing three songs in a single day drastically differ from your usual approach to creating music?
MT: I’m the kind of songwriter who can let these things drag out endlessly if I don’t have a set deadline (witness this interview…), so I think the compressed nature of ONB will be a great exercise. Part writing generally goes much faster for me; some of my favorite songs with St. Helena came together in one session.

BBC: What Boston band do you have the biggest crush on right now?
MT: Because I can never pick just one: Sarah Rabdau, Kingsley Flood, Freezepop. (Sera Del Fuego, you would have made this list if you weren’t relocating to Brooklyn tomorrow.)
