Trick or Crush: A run-down of local Halloween shows

Many many many rocking choices this year for Halloween. Here’s a round-up for you.


THURSDAY 10/29

Arts At the Armory
Dr. Gasp’s 7th Annual Halloween Special – Dan Blakeslee’s (aka Dr. Gasp) touring Halloween show features folk renditions of songs creepy and bizarre. The musical equivalent of Hitchcock, Lorre, and Price, Blakeslee brings along special guests Ambitious Tugboat and lots of spooky surprises.
Doors: 6:30pm, Show: 7pm. $8 adult, $3 kids (12 and under) [Includes $1 facility fee.]

Arts At the Armory
The Alloy Orchestra scores Phantom of the Opera Live – Alloy Orchestra, just back from a European tour, has helped revive some of the silent era’s great masterpieces working with an outrageous assemblage of peculiar objects and state-of-the-art electronics. Directed by Rupert Jillian, the 1925 version ofPhantom to be presented stars screen legend Lon Chaney. A film of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Fall of House of Usher will also be scored live by [R/A] and DJ Dzinga. Doors: 6:30pm, Show: 7:15pm. $21 advance, $26 door [Includes $1 facility fee.]

Devil Music scores Nosferatu Live – Vampire story Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922) directed by F.W. Murnau comes to life with Devil Music’s haunting score. Singer-songwriter Chris Brokaw will open and DJ Brother Cleve will spin. Doors: 6:30pm, show: 7:15pm. $16 advance, $19 door [Includes $1 facility fee.]

Middle East Upstairs

The 6th annual Mass. Morgue “Day of the Dead.” Music by Avariel, Lucretia’s Daggers, The Milling Gowns, Mortuus Ortus, and Sans Nomenclature; bellydancing by Johara Snake Dance Theater Company; circus acts by The Human Floor; dystopian art by Landon Richmond. Debuting at the Morgue will be our new electronic drum master, Faust. 7pm; $10 in advance/$12 at doors.
