Information Crush: Amy’s Shows List

June 10, 2010

Why are there so many good shows happening on the same days? It makes scheduling tough. Start your Thursday off with a little free music starting at 5p at Downtown Crossing with Mystery Roar, Bearstronaut and Mean Creek. Later on Thursday night you have a bunch of great choices. There’s Eddie Japan at the Rosebud with the Otpori All Stars; Buttercup at the Plough and Stars and Eli “Paperboy” Reed and the True Loves at the Middle East for a little soul music. But the show that my vote for oh so cool is the TTs show with the Trashcan Sinatras, ahhhh…Scottish shimmering soulful pop goodness. They don’t tour so often so it’ll be great to see them at a club like TTs. Friday night is another busy night with local faves Buffalo Tom at the Paradise. It also appears that Friday is Ladies night with Audrey Ryan and Hilken Mancini at the Milky Way; Jenny Dee and the Deelinquents at Toad and the Jeddo Stars (formerly the Charms) at the Plough and Stars. On Saturday don’t fret if you don’t have tickets to the Dead Milkmen (maybe you’ll find a punk rock girl in a Bitchin’ Camaro who has an extra ticket) there are many show to check out. Upstairs at the Middle East are Holly Golightly, Muck & the Mires and The Vivs; Twang Em High are at Toad and then there’s the show at the Rosebud which looks truly awesome with Mixtape 1993. Since it’s 1993 that means the music of Nirvana, Breeders, Smashing Pumpkins, REM and more as performed by The Luxury, The Rationales, Exile in Somerville and St Helena. On Sunday night Treat Her Right are doing their semi regular gig at Toad. Monday has a show at the Middle East that looks good with First Aid Kit from Sweden, lots of harmonies from this sister group. The Rationales are at Sally O’Brien’s on Tuesday and it’s free. And on Wednesday there’s a band from Milwaukee called Goodnight Loving at the Plough and over at Great Scotts is a strong bill with Quintron & Miss Pussycat, Jeff the Brotherhood, Viva Viva and Thick Shakes.
