Booker Crush: Autumn Pincus now booking The Armory Café

June 14, 2010

Longtime tour manager and local music supporter Autumn Pincus (left) is the new booker at The Armory Cafe, which gets us all kinds of excited for things to come. Those who know Autumn will attest to her positive and friendly disposition, which should translate well into a booking role.

We asked Autumn about her early ideas and goals as she settles in to her new job:
“My vision for the space is to have it become a great listening room for acoustic shows. Due to the ongoing issues with neighbors about noise, we’re really focusing on quieter performances, but I see this as an amazing opportunity for musicians to do more stripped down performances. I’m especially interested in having full bands or more rock bands do stripped down performances, as they may not have had an opportunity to take the music back to its roots like that. I’m also interested in drawing in more alternative performances like John Shade and the Neave Quartet. The space was perfectly suited for the strings and it sounded amazing in there.”

Bands interested in booking shows at the café can contact Autumn at cafebooking@artsatthearmory.org. As of now, the calendar is pretty much open, and in addition to booking individual shows Autumn is open to residencies, ongoing series, etc. so pitch your ideas!

Info about the room:
– Legal capacity is 52
– Performances should be mostly acoustic, NO drums or amplified bass at all
– There is a piano in the room
– Snacks are available for purchase
(Beer and wine license still pending approval by the state)
