Show Crush: The Murder Mile (CD release) / BrownBoot / Cult 45 / Cheap Leather at Great Scott tonight

June 24, 2010

Customer: “Do you have Soul?”
Rob: “That all depends.”
-High Fidelity

There will be no need to ask this question tonight at Great Scott in Allston, all four bands have outplayed the Devil on a dark road somewhere between here and there and sent him back to the fire empty handed (I heard Jordan Valentine made him cry in the corner, she was so good). These guys all have soul, to be sure, but the lineup is still diverse enough to not feel repetitive, they’re all guaranteed to bring their own brand of rock ‘n’ roll to the stage. Whether it’s the cocaine paced fury of The Murder Mile, the blues/rock/soul magic potion of Cult 45, BrownBoot’s Faces & Yardbirds influenced, spaced out soul sound or Cheap Leather’s straight up rock power, this “Evening of Rocking and Rolling” is sure to stir up something deep inside.

Weeknight shows are tough, I know, but Thursday is pretty much the weekend if you think about it. Resist the temptation to stay home, get to Great Scott, have some drinks and shake your ass. Everyone is useless on Fridays anyway, and this bill is definitely worth going in hungover for. You’ll be glad you did.

Doors at 9pm

  1. Tell it like it is Ranger.

  2. I do what I can, ma'am.
