Mark Desrosiers is the bassist, and occasional carpenter, for This Blue Heaven. He is also the only member originally from Boston. When not rehearsing with TBH, he is usually riding a motorcycle, or figuring out ways to sneak Iron Maiden or Motorhead riffs into innocent pop songs.

BBC: What Boston rockers, past or present, would you most like to have a One Night Band with?
MD: I’m a huge fan of older Boston ska and punk, so I could probably die happy if I shared a stage with Dickie Barrett. One of my favorite local bands is/was The Televandals, and seeing as they are defunct now, the chances of me playing with Nico have improved!

BBC: What Boston rockers, past or present, would you most fear having a One Night Band with?
MD: The dudes in KidNapKin are incredible players, and I would most definitely be intimidated to play with them! Ditto with Township; I’m way too big of a pansy to play with those guys (though I love them!)

BBC: Did you attend One Night Band last year? If so, what was the highlight? If not, what do you anticipate the event to be like?
MD: I didn’t make it out last year, so I’m kind of excited to go into it with no expectations. I think it will be really eye-opening; not just because of the fact that there is so much talent in Boston, but I think the songs are going to go in wildly different directions from what you would expect players A + B + C to make.

BBC: What is your normal song or part writing process? Will writing three songs in a single day drastically differ from your usual approach to creating music?
MD: My parts writing is usually continuous; TBH songs rarely see the light of day until a few months of serious tinkering have gone by, and several massive swings in genre/feel. So writing songs and parts in only a few hours, with no time to sleep on, or obsess, over compositions and counter melodies and arrangements, is going to feel very strange. In a good way, I hope!

BBC: What Boston band do you have the biggest crush on right now?
MD: Definitely Aloud. Every time I see them, I just think, “They do EVERYTHING right.” Jen and Henry really have something really good going on now, and what I’ve heard from their new CD is awesome.
