Show Crush: The Neighborhoods open for Iggy and the Stooges at the House of Blues, tonight (8/31)

August 31, 2010

When it came to calling it quits in 1992, The Neighborhoods played their last blowout at The Rat, just before the legendary club closed its doors forever. Over a decade later, after reuniting and reinvigorating, the ‘Hoods get to celebrate the release of the recording of that final show by opening up for Iggy and The Stooges tonight at the re-vamped House of Blues.

The live double CD set The Last Rat consists of 29 songs performed during their grand finale performance on October 24, 1992. Mixed by founding member David Minehan at his Wooly Mammoth Sound Studio in Waltham, the CD includes 24 originals and 5 cover tunes.

Brett Milano recalls highlights of that night included: calling back the original lineup to play both sides of their first hit single, “Prettiest Girl/No Place Like Home,” calling to the stage their friend/producer Brad Whitford for two songs (the first and only member of Aerosmith to hit the Rat stage), and the performance of five previously unreleased songs from the band’s 1992 basement demos.

Track listing is as follows:

CD 1 – Real Stories, The Man…, Modern Cowboy, Diane, Want It Back, Pure And Easy, King Of
Rats, Crown Victoria, Arrogance, Hoodwinked, No Place Like Home, Monday Morning, Innocence
Lost, Prettiest Girl, Ready Steady Go, She’s So Good

CD 2 – Roxxanne, Walkin’ The Dog, Nancy, Peeping Tom, Salt, The Pipe, Hangin’, Mess,
Tommy, Think It Over, Spymaster, Hot Steel And Acid, That’s How I Escaped My Certain Fate

The 1992 ‘Hoods line-up featured Minehan on vocals and guitar, bassist and vocalist Lee Harrington and drummer Carl Coletti. Current line-up includes Minehan and Harrington with Johnny “Rock” Lynch on drums and vocals. You can be sure to expect to hear many of these songs tonight during their performance at the HoB. Get there early, doors are at 6:30 and The Neighborhoods go on at 7:30 sharp.
