Information Crush: Amy’s Shows List

September 9, 2010

September’s here and boy does it show. There are soooo many shows to list and talk about it’s just crazy. On Thursday there’s a great local show at TTs with Apple Betty, This Blue Heaven, The Backup Factor and Apollo Run. Also on Thursday is an amazing double bill at Johnny D’s with LaLa Brooks and Jenny Dee and the Deelinquents. Lala was in The Crystals in the ’60’s known for the hits: Then He Kissed Me and Da Doo Ron Ron. Last time she was in town and played with Jenny Dee and the Deelinquents at Precinct it was a magical night so this show is definitely worth your time. Friday night starts a 2 night run at the Lizard Lounge with Cover Up Boston’s tribute to the Travelin’ Wilburys with Kingsley Flood as Bob Dylan, Jason Dunn (The Luxury) as George Harrison, Spirit Kid as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mercy James as Jeff Lynne and Brendan Boogie as Roy Orbison, individual sets and Travelin’ Wilburys finale set, wow. Also on Friday I, Pistol, The Crushing Low and Black Fortress of Opium are at Precinct; Naked on Roller Skates is at the Cantab; Township is at the Middle East Downstairs; Muck & the Mires, Dirty Truckers and Jay Allen & the Arch Criminals are at Precinct and Gary Lucas of Captain Beefheart is at the Magic Room. Phew…what a busy busy night. Saturday has the second night of the Travelin’ Wilburys Cover-Up at the Lizard, in case you missed the Friday night version. Also on Saturday Neutral Uke Motel is at Cafe 939; Jordan Valentine and the Sunday Saints are at the House of Blues Foundation Room; The Lights Out, Muy Cansado, Sidewalk Driver and The Press are at the Middle East Upstairs and over at the Magic Room in Brighton there’s an Americana Jamboree with Bow Thayer, Jimmy Ryan, The Darlings, Dave Deluca (Highway Ghosts), Twang ‘em High, Michael Oakland (Pousette Dart) and MC Angelle Wood. On Sunday you can check out day 2 of the Life is Good Festival in Canton with Jason Mraz, Guster, Ok Go, Corinne Bailey Rae and more. Also on Sunday indie fav Vampire Weekend is at the Pavilion, the incomparable Blondie is at the House of Blues and Asa Brebner is at Toad. Monday night has a free show at ZuZu’s with Arlo and the Otter, Sleepy Very Sleepy and Gem Club. Tuesday is apparently 80’s night with the Stan Ridgeway Band at Johnny D’s (Wall of Voodoo’s lead guy, here’s hoping for a rockin’ version of Mexican Radio) and Billy Idol (Rebel Yell!) at the House of Blues. Wednesday night has Jukebox the Ghost and Drink Up Buttercup at Great Scotts and the Banditas continue their residency at the Plough and Stars with their guests Bunny’s a Swine.
