Information Crush: Amy’s Shows List

September 30, 2010

September goes out with a bang with lots of great choices on Thursday. For a fabulous surf night head over to Great Scotts to help Ketman celebrate their vinyl release. Also on Thursday Menomena and Suckers are at Royale (I’ve see Menomena live and they deliver!); The Swans are at the Middle East Downstairs; Auto Interiors, Dirty Truckers and Brownboot are at the Hard Rock Cafe and The Sheila Divine are at Landsdowne Pub with a free FNX show (not certain if you can still get tix or not but definitely worth a try). On Friday night TTs has a solid local lineup with The Vivs starting the night off (get there at 9p to catch their set) followed by Hey Now Morris Fader and Reverse. At Church on Friday check out The Michael J Epstein Memorial Library and Cinnamon Fuzz or you can go to the Plough and Stars to see Slim Jim and the Mad Cows. Saturday night at the Rosebud is the Big Mixtape 1967 show presented by Boston Band Crush and in case you were wondering, the Number 1 song on the Billboard charts on October 2, 1967 is The Letter by The Boxtops (RIP Alex Chilton), great song. Also happening on Saturday is a cool rockabilly showcase at the Midway with Johnny Carnevale and His Band of All Stars and Nate Gibson and the Gashouse Gang and The Port Charles Quintet is at the Cantab. If you’re in Rhode Island during the day on Sunday, check out the Rock and Roll Yard Sale. Sunday night brings the Tom Tom Club to the Paradise and I hear there are still tickets available for Roger Waters at the Garden (if that’s your thing). Also on Sunday night Odessa Rose are at the Rosebud. Monday starts MIA’s 2 night stint at Royale. Also on Monday Cursive’s Tim Kasher is at Great Scotts and if you’re feeling adventurous Frikstailers and El G (from Argentina) are at the Enormous Room and it’s free! On Tuesday the reformed Scottish pop band, The Vaselines are at the Paradise while Chapterhouse is at the Middle East Downstairs with openers Ulrich Schnauss and 28 Degrees Taurus. Wednesday night has Women and DD/MM/YYYY at Great Scotts while at the Middle East Downstairs Rock Shop #8 “Less Rock, More Talk” is discussing effective uses of social media and after the talk there will be musical sets by Aaron Perrino, Ribs and Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling and it’s all free.
