Information Crush: Amy’s Shows List

October 21, 2010

October is flying by and there are many many shows to check out. On Thursday night, Angeline continues its residency at the Plough and Stars and at the Rosebud is John Powhida, The Wooden Sky and The Rationales. Also on Thursday is the Paste Magazine sponsored show at the Middle East Downstairs with Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit and Langhorne Slim. On Friday there’s a cool rockabilly show at the Midway Cafe with Memphis Rockabilly and Susquehanna Industrial Tool and Die Co.. The Plough has a night of Gloucester rock with The Bandit Kings, The Boyfriends and Inge Berge. Or you can take a trip back in time to see Gary Numan at the Paradise performing the Pleasure Principle live (but only if you have tickets already, this show is soldout). Saturday has many choices including Dave Thomas from Pere Ubu at the Magic Room in Brighton, The Figgs are at Sally O’Briens and Apple Betty, Mars and Kahoots are at Pa’s Lounge. Meanwhile Autumn Hollow is celebrating their CD release with special guests Coyote Kolb, Big East and Points North at the Rosebud (plus you can bring your own carved pumpkin for a contest they’re holding). Sunday night head over to the Paradise for the Neighborhoods release party of their new cd The Last Rat. Also on Sunday The Woven Bones, Frankie Rose and the Outs and Thick Shakes are at TTs and Boris McCutcheon is at Atwoods. Monday has the Corin Tucker Band (of Sleater Kinney) at the Paradise and at Charlie’s Kitchen are Four Eyes, Awful Man and Boyfriends. On Tuesday night Lady Lamb the Beekeeper is at TTs (I hear great things about this band) and there’s the Mass Ave Music All Stars at Toad and it’s free. Wednesday has A Sunny Day in Glasgow at Great Scotts and at TTs is Crayon Fields (a pop band all the way from Melbourne Australia, definitely worth checking out), Air Waves and Reports.
