Show Crush: Roman Traffic / The Luxury / Grass Is Green / The Year Million / Dreamtigers at Church tonight

November 19, 2010

Throughout our history on this planet, the greatest among us have shared one important trait: the mustache. In music alone the roster is long and distinguished: Mercury, Zappa, Oates – the list goes on and on. The fact that Sophia Cacciola, co-founder of this very blog, is married to an extremely mustachioed gentleman proves that well crafted facial hair does provide certain advantages. In fact, Boston has quite a storied history when it comes to this type of show, dating back to Scamper’s annual mustache shows in the mid-00s through the Motion Sick’s ‘Stache Wednesday performance in 2008. To further honor the glorious heights achieved by members of the mustache fraternity, Church has brought together a lineup featuring some of Boston’s finest.

The night will mark the debut of new Roman Traffic frontman Christopher Mongillo; he’s played with them a few times for stripped down versions of their set but this will be his first full on rock show with the band. He’s a great addition, bringing even more layers to their progressive power pop. The Luxury will be on hand doing what they do best – blasting through intelligent, powerful arena rock masterpieces with surgical precision. Grass is Green have a wonderful live show that puts their talent on full display; they play fast, punchy rock that works its way into your brain and lingers long after they’re done playing. The Year Million and Dreamtigers will start the evening off with powerful anthem rock .
