Show Crush: The Blizzard of 78 (EP release) / Muy Cansado / The Positronic Rays / Highly Personal Trash at the Rosebud this Friday

December 1, 2010

Local wonderboy Nate Leavitt has really been blowing everyone’s hair back this year, cranking out records and rock shows with The Blizzard of ’78, Parlour Bells, The Positronic Rays, AND as a solo artiste.  This Friday at the Rosebud, why, it’s a party celebrating at least two of the above.

Highlighting the evening is the EP release for what I still believe is Nate’s “main” project, The Blizzard of ’78.  Nothing or No One is a mellow little three-song treat, perfect for listening and pondering whilst smoking a pipe in front of the fire with a golden retriever in your lap. (I just described my Uncle Denny, by the way.) As he is wont to do, Nate will be pulling double duty, also performing in a reunion of his one night band The Positronic Rays, who will relaunch their space rock opera – and one can only hope that it once again includes “The Final Countdown.”

Bookending the night on either side will be the textural soundscape pop of Positronic bandmate Sophie Innerfield’s Highly Personal Trash and alt-punkers Muy Cansado.

You can hear (or download) the TBO78 EP over at their Bandcamp; if you can’t be bothered with that, look, I put the title track in a widgey right here for you.
