Show Crush: The Winter Rock Formal featuring Gene Dante and the Future Starlets / Parlour Bells / Highly Personal Trash / DJ Dave Duncan at Church tomorrow

February 17, 2011

They’ve got quite an evening planned at Church tomorrow, eschewing the normal anything-goes rock show and giving us an excuse to get dressed to the nines. The Winter Rock Formal will be just like the prom, only now you can drink your liquor openly and none of your teachers will be there to chaperone.
Who will be there to chaperone, you might be asking yourself for some reason? How about Gene Dante and the Future Starlets? Gene doesn’t care if you spike the punch or sneak in a flask, and he’s more than happy to set the mood with a set of glam rock crooning. Parlour Bells will be there to help out as well; fronted by the devilishly slick and sinister Glenn DiBenedetto, they offer up a dark lounge pop that’s perfectly suited to any of the nightclubs visited in a David Lynch film. Then there’ll be Highly Personal Trash, with Sophie Innerfield’s extremely textured, beautifully melodic non-pop. Finally there’s Dave Duncan, who’ll be bookending the live sets with DJ magic to keep the party going all night long. Come early to hit the photo booth and catch the Dating Game, then stay late to get your date good and drunk.
