Show Crush: Fences / The Backup Factor / The Sound of Growing Up at the Mideast up tomorrow

February 22, 2011

See, the bands on this bill are like, “White font, black background, done. We don’t need to impress them with some fancy poster. We’ll do that with our music.” And it’s true! You won’t be able to just stand there statue-like when The Sound of Growing Up gets things started with their upbeat, charming indie pop. You can pick up their deliciously catchy song “Swing” in this C.D. On Songs column from a couple months back. Next up, The Backup Factor will put a smile on your face while tickling your brain with their smart, layered throw-back pop laced with vocal harmonies. This marks their first show in a few months, and their first with This Blue Heaven’s Mark Desrosiers on bass, and we’re hopeful that we’ll finally see a proper recording from them this year. In the meantime you’ll just have to take our word for it (and do we ever lie to you?) – you’ll love em.

Headliner Fences hails from Seattle, and our dear friend Brad says they’re pretty rad. Brad never lies to us.
