Show Crush: The Beatings / The Nose Jobs / The Fagettes / Gone Bad at PA’s tomorrow

February 25, 2011

This show is so good, 2 ½ bands from it are on the brand frakking new sampler we just shoved all up in your face. Which bands, you ask? Well, it’d spoil the fun if I told you, you’ll just have to head to the sampler page and have a gander (and a download). The point is that this show is just stacked to the rafters with awesome, and we’ll have to leave it at that for now.

Mixing indie basement rock with Americana, classic arena anthems and pure punk, The Beatings are a true Boston treasure. They’re getting ready to make the trek to Austin for this year’s SXSW, where they’ll be playing a Midriff Records / Liberty and Union Recording Co. showcase along with Eldridge Rodriguez (their own co-frontman whose third solo release is releasing soon), Greg Lyon, Louder My Dear, Kingsley Flood and more. (Though Kingsley Flood is the non-Midriff band of the bunch, KF bassist Nick Balkin – aka The Incredible Balk – played in Battle Toadz with Midriff’s Cameron Keiber at the first One Night Band, that big event we produce every year, and their friendship and musical brohood has blossomed from there. BBC brings the people together.)

Not gonna make it down to Texas? Well don’t you worry, they’ll be offering a bit of a preview tomorrow night at PA’s in Union Square (and if you are headed to Austin, it means you get a Beatings twofer!) .

Garage punk outlaws The Nose Jobs, ‘60s cool lo-fi rock ‘n’ roll masters The Fagettes and punk powerhouse Gone Bad help provide that stackedness we were referring to.
