Information Crush: Amy’s Shows List

March 17, 2011

It’s a fine day for the Irish, Happy St Patrick’s Day, doncha know. It’s actually a fine weekend for the Irish with so many great shows to check out and enjoy. On Thursday, the Rosebud celebrates with a Punk Rock St Paddy’s Day with The Tampoffs, You’re Under Arrest and DJ Prince Paul. For other Irish flavored shows The Dropkick Murphys are at the House of Blues (probably soldout though) and the Hothouse Flowers are at Showcase Live. For a different option for Thursday, Young Galaxy, Winter Gloves and The Sound of Growing Up are at TT’s which looks really interesting. Friday has way too many choices. For a night of Irish drinking music try the Middle East Upstairs with Streams of Whiskey (Pogues tribute) and The Gobshites. Also on Friday head to the Rosebud to celebrate the Rosebud’s own Aimee’s B-Day with The Rudds, Downbeat 5, Watts and the Irreverends. Other good shows on Friday are Wheat, The Russians, The Painted Lights and The Roman Numeral Three at TT’s and Axemunkee, Steve Walther Orchestra and the Steve Tarulli Group at Sally O’Briens which is free. Told you there were too many choices for a Friday. Continuing in the Irish vein, the lovely Anngelle Wood has put together a tribute night to Celtic rockers Thin Lizzy at the Rosebud with lots of great musicians, definitely a night to remember. Now if Iceland is more your thing than Ireland (it’s really only a letter separating the two places) check out the Middle East Downstairs for a free show from A Taste of Iceland with Amiina (love this band) and Thick as Thieves. Sunday night has Asa Brebner doing his semi regular gig at Toad (always a good time) and at the Middle East Downstairs has Rocky Votolato, Matt Pond and Marc Pinansky. On Monday, I’m still in mourning that the World Party tour was postponed, hopefully they will release new dates soon. On Tuesday there’s an interesting show at the Lizard Lounge with Admiral Fallow (from Scotland!) and at the Plough and Stars there’s Chick Graning (from Scarce), Olivia Saperstein and David Von Schlegall. Wednesday night has The Damnwells and Apex Manor (featuring former members of the Broken West) at TT’s and at the Paradise is Ellie Goulding (show was originally at the Brighton Music Hall but got moved to the Paradise because of demand, tix might be gone by now).

Cheers and enjoy your pint of Guinness!
