Show Crush: Static of the Gods / Endless Wave / Soft Pyramids / Vary Lumar / Emily Peal at TT the Bear’s Friday

May 18, 2011

I won’t pussy foot around this one. The new single from Static of the Gods‘ brand new EP, Midnight Fires, owns.

On “Lake Effect” Jen Johnson’s voice is a fucking wrecking ball in blizzard. The song moves with a thumping heart beat guitar-and-drum dance performed by Ben Voskeritchian and Mike Latulippe that allows Jen’s ethereal vocals to float right above the bed of snowy music. If the single is any indication of how the entire EP is, we cannot wait for Friday’s release show at TT the Bear’s.

Joining Static of the Gods in the “Hey, We’re Releasing New Music” party will be Endless Wave who release their new record, Notes from the Compound. On their new release, the band finds themselves courting the sounds of U2, Snow Patrol, and the Dandy Warhols – only ballsier.

Filling out the night nicely are Soft Pyramids who bring their fuzzy rock along for the ride, Vary Lumar‘s Radiohead flavored clicks, clacks and rock, and Emily Peal who kicks off the night with introspective lyrics and a voice to melt even the most hardcore metal dude.
