Show Crush: The Grownup Noise / Blisses B / Project Blue Book at Johnny D’s Friday

July 7, 2011

Johnny D’s is known as a great place to cull your hangover after a brutal night of drinking. They have all the hangover amenities – soft jazz (check), great food (check), and amazing Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas. You may actually find yourself back at Johnny D’s hovered over an omelet and a cup of coffee after the show they’re hosting on Friday.

Coming off a sold-out show at the Middle East Downstairs and releasing their critically acclaimed new record, This Time With Feeling, this March, the Grownup Noise finish up their Northeast Tour this Friday at the aforementioned Johnny D’s in Somerville. The Boston vets’ sound comes easy like James Taylor’s voice. With smart songwriting, a talented group of musicians and great harmonies, the Grownup Noise write complete and stunning songs -much like Brooklyn band, the National, each instrument, voice and part works toward the greater cause of the song itself which is truly saying something. If you haven’t seen these guys and gals, get your chance before they head back out on the road for their full US tour later this summer.

Tour mates and resident San Fransicians, Blisses B, have been banging out their brand of psychodelia in the Bay area and are bringing their talents to Somerville for the first time. The quartet just released their new record, Thirty Days, Sixty Years, so keep your ears open for those tunes.

Also on this great bill is Boston based jamband/funk group, Project Bluebook. For fans of moe., Widespread Panic and for those who like Eli “Paperboy” Reed, be sure the catch these guys as well.

Show at 9 PM / 21 + Days, Sixty Years (2010) by BlissesB
