Show Crush: BrownBoot / Port Charles Quintet at the Rosebud tonight

August 5, 2011

Spaced-out stupor group BrownBoot will be returning for a night of indulgence at the historic Rosebud in Davis Square tomorrow. Is there anything in the world as fun as a BrownBoot show at the ‘Bud? Well, sure there is, let’s not get crazy; but this is most definitely going to be a good time. They just pack everything they can into every single song – some of the most powerful vocals out there, scorching instrumentation and the sense that everything could come crashing down at any moment (but somehow they always keep it together).  In addition to the hits on their debut Here’s the Thing, we’ve been promised two shiny new tracks, so keep your ears open for those.

They’ll be pairing up with the incredible Port Charles Quintet, whose devotion and obsession with the ‘60s rock sound is unparalleled. They don’t just play the songs, they invoke a feeling of soul and rhythm that sweeps up everyone in the room, it’s truly a sight to see.

JJ and Thee Cuban Heels were scheduled to open the night, but we’ve heard that they had to drop off due to an injury. We aren’t sure if BrownBoot and Port Charles Quintet will each play longer, monster sets or if they’ll be able to get an opener. We’ll let you know as soon as we find out, but who cares either way? It’s rock ‘n roll; just show up and have a good time. UPDATE: uke songstress Davina Yannetty will be getting things started.
