Information Crush: Amy’s Shows List

August 18, 2011

Busy week with way too many choices of really great shows. Thursday has the Third Thursdays series at the Rosebud with The Charms and Sticky Business and at the Middle East Upstairs there’s Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, Luke Rathborne and the Milkman’s Union. Also on Thursday, Shepardess and Chris Coburn are at the Haven in Jamaica Plain and Highway Ghosts are at Porter Belly’s in Brighton. Friday night has Mistle Thrush, Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, Count Zero and Pray Polanski at TT’s; at the Plough and Stars is Dave Aaronoff and if you’re in the Lowell area, Mavis Staples (check out her song with Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, pretty fab) performs at Boarding House Park. On Saturday you can get on your boogie shoes and see KC and the Sunshine Band at the Hatch Shell. Later on you can check out Right Side of Satan, Eric Martin and the Illyrians, The 360s and Richie Hughes at Store 54, Allston (donations welcome and it’s a potluck gathering so bring something to share, perhaps a nice casserole?). Also on Saturday night The Rationales and the Shelley Valauskas Experience are at the Rosebud and Sourpuss is at the Plough and Stars. Sunday night has Bob Dylan at the House of Blues and Caveman is at the Brighton Music Hall. Monday has TAPS, Death Shepard and Bromp Treb at ZuZu’s and it’s free. On Tuesday Tim Kasher from Cursive is at Great Scott and BLNX (featuring Ed Ackerson of Polara), Sinnet and Moga are at TT’s. And on Wednesday there’s a big surf music show at Church with The Giant Kings, Ten Foot Polecats, Tsunami of Sound, and The Beachcombovers (get there early for the Beachcombovers, they’re fab!). It’s also a benefit show for Danny Amis of Los Straitjackets who has been diagnosed with cancer and faces huge medical bills so I say surf for a good cause and if you can’t make visit this website and make a donation: http://www.daddyogrande.com.
